As part of the “Hello Hong Kong” promotional campaign, which aims to encourage visitors to return to the city following, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced last Friday that 140,000 tickets will be given away to Mainland travellers. The launch event for the “World of Winners” campaign for Mainlanders was held in Shanghai and attended by over 1,000 people.
The “World of Winners” campaign is designed to encourage international visitors to return to Hong Kong and is supported by three Hong Kong-based airlines (Cathay Pacific, HK Express, and Hong Kong Airlines), the Greater Bay Airlines and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). The free tickets will cover round-trip economy flights and will be given away between March 1, 2023 and September 2023. The campaign also offers additional incentives to visitors, such as welcome drinks, cash vouchers, and gifts.
Hong Kong’s tourism industry is showing positive signs of recovery with the recent successful campaign to promote tourism in March. While the numbers remain lower than pre-pandemic levels, there is a growing optimism that the industry will bounce back with the ongoing campaign and major events coming back to the SAR. The April giveaways are dedicated to Mainland China, with May set to focus on Northeast Asia and other regions. With 140,000 air tickets allocated for Mainland travellers, AAHK CEO, Fred Lam, highlighted the importance of Mainland travellers and expressed his excitement about the allocation of air tickets for this valued segment of inbound passenger traffic to Hong Kong.
Cathay is now offering 83,000 free airline tickets to Mainlanders. Registrations to the giveaway end April 23.
