With further relaxing of measures, the idea of diners looking up their favorite dishes from the buffet spread seems to have made a return in many dining outlets for now. Regardless whether you prefer the ala carte buffet from the last 2 years or checking out your favorites through live stations, the all-you-can eat concept remains alive and well and I checked out a number of different hotels to see how they have adapted to the new normal – some through the clever use of technology while others through age-old hospitality practices.

Without further ado, here are some noteworthy hotel buffet dining promotions to check out this month:

Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre

Mandarin Oriental Singapore

Melt Cafe at Mandarin Oriental Singapore is one of the country’s most popular hotel buffets and is going strong after more than a decade in the buffet scene. The buffet at Melt Cafe is known for being well-nuanced with dedicated sections for Indian, Western, Japanese, BBQ and Asian delights. Among their most popular sections is their carvery which offers such sumptuous dishes as Grain Fed Beef, Leg of Lamb, Roasted Chicken and Farm Prawns.

Melt currently has a promotion where you can go for their buffets at 10% off the usual price.

JW Marriott Singapore South Beach

beach road kitchen buffet

Beach Road Kitchen at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach is personally one of my favorite hotel buffets in Singapore. Their “Chefs on Show” spread is always huge and the quality is always superb. Many dishes are cooked on the spot such as in the grills section. Dishes to look out for include the Signature Chili Crab, Beef Tomahawk, Grilled Catch of the Day and more. Their cold seafood section includes fresh oysters and snow crab so what’s not to like?! Their Italian themed desserts is also a highlight. I love their Soursop Cake and Tiramisu.

The Fullerton Hotel

The new ala carte buffet format at Town Restaurant is now available from Fridays to Saturdays for dinner and on Sundays for brunch. You can expect a number of local delights such as Braised Pork Trotter, Char Kway Teow and Drunken Prawns being served alongside Tandoori Chicken, Angus Ribeye and more. They also have dedicated corners for Italian and Thai fare.

Town Restaurant currently has a promotion where you can enjoy their buffet at 8% off, depending on the day.

Parkroyal Beach Road

Ginger is one of the halal hotel buffet restaurants in Singapore. The buffet at Ginger is available from Tuesdays to Sundays with a slightly higher pricing for weekend visits.

Pan Pacific Singapore

Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore offers some of the most well-rounded buffets in the country with its countless buffet stations. Yes – they are now serving buffets the old way rather than the ala carte format that we now see under the “new normal.” For this month, you can expect some seasonal items such as Lamb Leg with Kachumber, Ayam Berempah Salai, Nyonya Five Spice Kurobuta Pork Sausage and Rickshaw Noodle and more.

Edge currently has a promotion with their buffet at up to 15% off.

Fairmont Singapore

As suggested by the name of their inhouse buffet restaurant Asian Market Cafe, the spread at Fairmont Singapore is very much Asian-oriented with a strong emphasis on local flavors. The food menu changes every few months. At the time of writing, they are offering the likes of Cereal Crayfish, Beef Gulai Lemak, Fish Masak Berlado Sauce and Roasted Lamb Leg. This is a halal buffet.

Asian Market Cafe currently has a promotion where 1 dines free out of every 4 persons.

Shangri-la Singapore

lebanese cuisine at the line, shangri-la singapore

Of the hotel buffets I have visited under the new normal, Shangri-la Singapore’s has one of the longest buffet spreads. The Line’s buffet has the theme “flavors of the world” and indeed, the menu is a run through of international cuisine. Featuring over 35 dishes, diners can expect mainstays from Japanese, Western, Indian and even local cuisine.

Prices start from S$80.05 net for lunch buffet and S$103.59 net for dinner buffet.

Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore

beautifully presented seafood platter at colony, ritz carlton millenia singapore

Colony at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore is one of the Lion City’s most popular buffets. Personally, I have found their offerings to be of consistently high quality – with many deliciously concocted dishes despite the mass-produced nature. Under the new normal, Colony still offers something different for each day. I dropped by on a Friday to check out their Seafood Dinner (S$96 per adult / S$48 per child on Fridays and Saturdays) and was quite impressed with the level of service and also the way dishes were presented.

Out of the buffets I visited during the new normal, I would have to say that Colony’s presentation was the best of the lot. Even though I was well aware it was an “ala carte buffet,” it had seemed as though I was going through a fine dining meal as each course came in exquisite plating.

The ordering system being implemented at Colony is via QR code. There is a different QR code to be scanned dependent on the type of meal you are there for. Overall, I found service to be quite attentive. I had no problems finding a staff member who could take my orders. Dishes also came out quickly. Highlights during the seafood dinner include the A la Plancha Boston Lobster, Beef Rib (my personal favorite), Wok-fried Pork Leg Bee Hoon and the Colony Peanut Wrap.

Aside from the Seafood Dinner on Fridays and Sundays, Colony also has its Sunday Champagne Brunch (S$178++ per adult) served in a similar format.
